Dessi Puji Lestari received the B.E. degree in informatics engineering from Bandung Institute of Technology, and the M.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from Tokyo Institute of Technology (Titech), Japan, in 2007 and 2011, respectively where she joined Speech and Language Processing Laboratory from 2004 until 2011. She initiated research on Indonesian Large Vocabulary Continuous Speech Recognizer and its applications. In 2012, she joined Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), as a Lecturer. Her research interests include speech signal processing, speech recognition, speech synthesizer, speaker recognition, emotional recognition, and a broad domain of human-computer interaction and machine learning where she authors and co-authors more than 80 publication papers on these areas.
She has been actively engaged as a country representative of the Asian Spoken Language Research and Evaluation and the Oriental Chapter of the International Committee for the Co-ordination and Standardization of Speech Databases and Assessment Techniques (O-Cocosda). She was the General Chair of the IEEE International Conference of O-Cocosda 2016. In 2018, she also serves as a chief speech scientist of Prosa.ai, a start-up company focusing on building Text and Speech Technology, especially for Bahasa Indonesia in order to make speech technology can be used widely by industries and society.
